This is a long-awaited feature. Now SMPlayer can display two subtitles at the same time. The first subtitle is shown on the bottom of the image, the second one on the top.
This is available since SVN r6474 and requires mpv.

I still use Version 17.11.2 (Revision 8818) (64-bit), because I guess it was the last version providing DVD menu navigation, so “upgrading” is no real option (no DVD menu support is a real no-go). However, if I play a MKV with several subtitles, and choose e.g. “deu” (German) for first language and “eng” (English) for second language.. both are shown placed OVER EACH OTHER at the bottom. So it gets unreadable at all. I played with all the settings in settings > subtitle .. but nothing changes. Is there a way or how did you manage this
“the first subtitle is shown on the bottom of the image, the second one on the top”?
As r8818 > r6474, I wonder why it does not work, are there special conditions which have to be met?
I can’t reproduce this issue in my computer, but be sure the options “Use ASS library” and “Freetype support” in preferences, subtitles are both enabled.
